So summer is around the corner. Do you have plans? I'm sure you could use some money. You know the new fits you want to buy, maybe a new phone, but you don't know how you're going to get them. How about a job? I know you would prefer to just have money given to you, but it usually doesn't work that way. So, we thought we would provide you with tips to get a job this summer so you can stay busy to stay out of trouble and put some money in your pocket.
1. Pound the pavement! Go to different places to find out if they are hiring. This may require you to leave you neighborhood and see what else is out there. Make sure you always ask to speak to a hiring manager when you ask if they are hiring.
2. Be "interview-ready"! This means NO GUM! NO LOW CUT SHIRTS! NO SHORT SHORTS/SKIRTS! This means wear something that comes no more than an inch above your knees. Make sure you are professionally dressed and have a great attitude that makes them want to hire you. Have your resume in hand and references available in case they may ask.
3. Be able to start immediately! Don't go looking for a job and then act difficult about when you can start and/or what days you can work. What else do you really have to do anyways?!
4. Never sleep on entrepreneurship! Just in case you are having a hard time finding a job, always remember you have gifts and talents to use that may earn you some money. Make sure these gifts and talents are legal and safe! Never be too proud to ask someone if you can do some things around their house for them to earn money. Don't be ashamed to find things you can sale or new skills you can learn that can earn you some bucks.
Remember to always keep your eyes and ears open for places that are hiring or people that may be willing to pay you for doing work for them. KEEP IT REAL MOMENT: If you're expecting a boy to pay your way this summer or after for that matter, remember nothing in life is free. If he pays it or gets it for you 9 times out of 10 he expects and sometimes demands something in return. Something to think about...
